kyanite

Kyanite is a kind of natural refractory raw materials minerals with high-refractory and large volume-expanding at high temperature , which is generally blue. Sometimes, due to the spots on kyanite, or uniform texture color, colorof kyanite’s middle part is darker. Its specific gravity is 3.53~3.64. There are parallel stripes on kyanite .The color is light blue, cyan, or light gray and so on. Kyanite belongs to high alumina mineral. It is a kind of typical regional metamorphic mineral, which is formed from argillaceous rocks. Kyanite is mainly formed under the condition of medium metamorphism with high pressure. It exists in regional metamorphic schist, gneiss, related crystalline granite and quartz vein, co-existing with garnet, staurolite, mica and quartz.

Due to the properties of kyanite minerals, it can be widely used in many industries. 

1.Used to manufacture fine refractory materials, refractory mortar, cement, casting resistant products, plastic ramming mixture, technical ceramics, spark plugs for automobile engines, insulators, ball mill spheres, test vessels, shockproof products, etc. 

2.Used to refine silumin by electric heating, which is applied in the parts manufacturing of airplane, automobile, train and ship. 

3.Used to manufacture furnace facilities

4.Used in a variety of auxiliary pouring and operating equipment

5.Used in the production of crystalline fluorspar, the leading edges of supersonic aircraft, as well as in the metal accessories of spaceships and

6.Part of kyanite can be used to process precious stones. 

7.Used as abrasive material, glaze composition and non-slippery floor materials.

Utilizing the one-time permanent expansion property at high temperature, Kyanite, as high temperature expansion agent, can be directly added into unshaped refractories , such as castable, plastic refractory and plaster, to improve linear change index after calcination, and to eliminate weak points such as shrinkage cracking, spalling, and affecting service life of amorphous refractories during high temperature and cooling, so as to prolong brasque’s lifetime. Aluminate fibers made from the high-alumina mineral of kyanite are used to produce parts for cars, spaceships and radars. Mullite produced by calcination of kyanite is used to manufacture advanced refractory material, which can prolong the furnace’s life for 5 ~ 6 years and save energy. kyanHigh alumina cement can be made into kyanite cement by adding 5% to 15% of kyanite, which has refractory temperature up to 1650 ℃and can be used in military construction.
